On March 4, 2025, at 8:00 AM East Africa Time, the South Sudan genocidal army, SSPDF (South Sudan People's Defense Forces) military base in Wech Yär Adiu, Nasir, fell to the Naath Defense Forces, marking the end of an 11-year-long occupation following SSPDF's invasion of Nasir in 2014. The continuous attacks and prolonged periods of atrocities and war crimes committed by SSPDF against Nuer civilians in Nasir have finally been brought to an end.
The battle that led to the fall of Wech Yär, Nasir lasted two days. It began on March 3, 2025, when the SSPDF launched an attack against Nuer civilians and Naath Defense Force positions within the town of Nasir. In response, the Naath Defense Forces repelled the assault, driving SSPDF troops back to their barracks in Wech Yär Adiu. During this engagement, the Naath Defense Forces successfully captured half of the barracks but later withdrew.

On the following day, March 4, 2025, at 8:00 AM, SSPDF forces resumed hostilities by shelling Naath Defense Forces positions. This act reignited the battle, but this time, the Naath Defense Forces launched a decisive counteroffensive. They successfully penetrated the SSPDF barracks, seizing complete control of the base, including its artillery and other heavy weaponry.
A few SSPDF soldiers attempted to escape but were pursued and captured. The fall of Wech Yär Adiu left only 11 surviving SSPDF combatants, who were airlifted by UN plane to Malakal. Through strategic and swift military action, the Naath Defense Forces decisively eliminated the SSPDF's presence in Nasir, putting an end to 11 years of terror and atrocities committed against the people of Nasir, Nuerland.
